Apple Crisp
Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 02:49PM If you happen to have gone apple picking this fall, perhaps you too have 45 apples in your fridge and need to get creative about using them up. Thus, apple crisp!

Ingredients
- 4 apples (any combo)
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup Old fashioned oats
- ½ stick Unsalted butter

Prep Tips
- Even though this recipe is made with apples, it can be almost any combo of fruit to make a crisp. Try swapping 2 apples for a couple packs of berries, for example!
Step-by-Step
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Take ½ stick butter out of fridge 20-30 minutes before starting to let it warm up to room temperature. Keep other ½ stick out of fridge.
- Peel apples (little bit of skin are ok).
- Cut off any bruises you might now see.
- Slice the apples into large slices and then thin.
- Throw in mixing bowl as you go.
- Roll the lemon to release juices.
- Add 2 tsp. lemon juice to apples and ¼ tsp. vanilla extract.
- Run half stick butter around bottom and sides of pan.
- Layer apples in pan.
- Make the topping for crisp in bowl: ½ cup old-fashioned oats, ½ cup light brown sugar, ¼ tsp ground cinnamon, ½ stick unsalted butter (cut into small cubes at at room temp).
- Mix with you hands to ensure it’s well mixed and clumps together.
- Spread topping over apples.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes at 375 – depending on how mushy you like your apples. Either way – check on it after 30 minutes.
- Taste test an apple to test desired cooked-ness of apples.
- Let it cool an enjoy!
Serving Tips
- Excellent slightly warm and with either vanilla ice cream/yogurt or whipped cream!
